My Story, My Approach

My name is Corin Smith. I’m a Registered Dietitian and graduated with my Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics from Loma Linda university.
My current focus is on Functional Nutrition which is a component of Integrative and Functional Medicine. This is a specialty that goes beyond the diagnosis. I centralize on addressing root causes of the problem while providing individualized recommendations based on a holistic approach.
One of the biggest reasons why I decided to shift my focus into Functional Nutrition is because I myself have experienced battling with problems such as bloating, constipation, headaches, and drowsiness regardless of how clean/healthy I was eating. Constant reassurance from doctors saying that “my labs look normal” was no longer an answer for me. This is where I finally found the root of my problem which changed my life and I can assure will do the same for you. I learned and furthered my research into the world of Functional Nutrition and did some specialty lab work which gave me the clear reason as to why I was feeling the way I was. I discovered I had a lot of food sensitivities and SIBO.
I believe nutrition, wellness and balance go hand in hand. If you take care of your body, you feed it nutritious foods, and you exercise it, the result is feeling better about yourself, being healthy, and having a clearer mind. I finally can say that I do not believe in dieting, what I do believe in is changing our lifestyle to a healthier one.
Motherhood: Being a new mom is not always easy to live a balanced life. You are trying to take care of your new baby, but also you are trying to take care of yourself too. Most moms that I know tend to forget about themselves, whether it’s having some time alone, exercise or balancing a healthy diet. However, this is very important for you and your family because if you are not healthy and you don’t feel good about yourself it’s hard to take care of someone else.
